Physician-Sponsored IDE for Talent Endoluminal Spring Graft System in Patients With Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA)
Description

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Talent Endoluminal Spring Graft System, an investigational device, to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). The treatment population will include patients with an abdominal aortic aneurysm who meet the inclusion/exclusion criteria. All patients in the treatment population will undergo post-procedure follow-up evaluations at one (1), six (6), and 12 months and annually thereafter up to five (5) years post-procedure.

Description

To determine the safety and effectiveness of IMPEDE-FX RapidFill to increase the percentage of subjects with shrinkage of the abdominal aortic aneurysm sac when used as an adjunct to on-label endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) stent graft treatment in trial subjects considered candidates for elective EVAR.

A Phase II Study of AAA617 Alone and AAA617 in Combination With ARPI in Patients With PSMA PET Scan Positive CRPC
Description

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of AAA617 alone (Lutetium \[177Lu\] vipivotide tetraxetan) and in combination with an Androgen Receptor Pathway Inhibitors (ARPI) in participants with PSMA-positive, castration-resistant prostate cancer and no evidence of metastasis in conventional imaging (CI) (i.e., CT/MRI and bone scans). Approximately 120 participants will be randomized.

CCR2 AAA Pilot Study
Description

The purpose of this research study is to look at whether an investigational imaging agent, 64Cu-DOTA-ECL1i, used during Positron Emission Tomography (PET)/ Computed Tomography (CT) scanning, can help to identify conditions that place patients at an increased risk for AAA rupture. The study is also looking more closely at cellular, molecular and inflammatory properties of the aortic wall. Having the ability to identify markers that predict AAA progression/expansion and risk for rupture could allow the physician to manage patients in a more individualized, personal way.

Description

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a degenerative vascular disease, which is typically asymptomatic until rupture, resulting in high mortality. AAAs are more prevalent in men over age 65, though rupture is disproportionately higher in women. Due to nonlinear and unpredictable aortic dilatation, it is challenging to predict the AAA rupture using clinical diagnostics based on morphology. No medical therapy is used clinically to treat AAA, and there is an unmet need for clinically translatable, molecular biomarkers of AAA disease activity for surveillance and patient-specific management. The goal of this proposal is to develop a new approach for the diagnosis and targeted therapy of AAA.

Description

The aim of this randomized study is to compare the safety and performance of EndoVascular Aneurysm Repair with ESAR using Endurant + Heli-FX™ EndoAnchor™ system and FEVAR using customizable grafts from Cook (Zenith Fenestrated Graft) and Terumo (Fenestrated Anaconda Graft) for the treatment of aortic aneurysms with short aortic neck (4 to 15mm).

Limiting AAA With Metformin (LIMIT) Trial
Description

In this research, the investigators are looking at the effects of a drug called metformin may have on the growth of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)s. AAA is an abnormal enlargement of the aorta, which is the large artery in the abdomen (stomach area). The enlargement of the aorta carries a risk that it will rupture and cause life-threatening bleeding in the abdomen (belly). In this study the investigators hope to learn how metformin is associated with the enlargement or change in size of the AAA in study participants. Smaller studies have suggested that metformin may reduce the rate at which aortic aneurysms enlarge. This study will test this question: does metformin prevent AAAs from growing larger?

A Large Surgical Registry for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA)
Description

In the spirit of improving patient safety and quality of healthcare in our region, the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council Education and Research Foundation (Foundation) and Baylor Research Institute sought and obtained federal funding support (AHRQ grant) to develop an Abdominal Aortic Aneurism (AAA) surgery registry in North Texas. Participating centers will directly benefit from this project and will have access to a de-identified version of the registry data through their collaboration. These data may be used for quality improvement initiatives and/or to conduct your own research. In summary, this effort represents a substantial investment (with no costs to facilities) in improving outcomes for patients with AAA.

Effect of Ascorbic Acid Supplementation in Pregnancy on Anemia (AAA)
Description

A. Anemia is a common problem affecting pregnancy and can result in profound consequences to both the mother and the growing fetus. Current treatment usually includes administration of oral or IV iron, or blood transfusions. Vitamin C is known to affect iron metabolism and has been shown to improve outcomes when used in addition to iron, however, few studies have been performed in pregnancy. The primary aim of this study is to identify the effects of vitamin C on anemia in pregnancy. The Investigators propose a double-blind, randomized placebo controlled trial of 1000mg vitamin C supplementation in 200 low risk pregnancies with iron-deficiency anemia. All newly enrolled patients, who meet inclusion and exclusion criteria, will receive the standard of care evaluation and treatment for anemia in pregnancy. Additionally, patients will be randomized to receive either placebo or vitamin C and compliance monitored with a pill diary. Data will be analyzed by T tests and Mann-Whitney U test. If the data shows a positive statistical significance, vitamin C may be a useful supplement to iron in treating anemia.

Predictors of AAA Expansion and/or Rupture
Description

Eligible subjects in this study will have either a known abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) or because they do not have an AAA (control group). The purpose of this research study is to further study, through FEA, changes that occur in the mechanical properties of the aortic wall. The investigator will compare two radiotracers, 18F-FDG and 11C-PBR28 to determine if one provides more useful and reliable information about inflammation. 18F-FDG and 11C-PBR28 are radioactive drugs that will be used for imaging during the PET-CT scan. The investigator will also compare the results describing the mechanical properties of the AAA wall to the degree of inflammation in that wall as determined by PET-CT imaging to define new and better predictors of AAA growth and/or rupture.

Clinical Outcomes and Radiation Safety After Endovascular Repair of Complex AAAs Using Fenestrated- Branched Devices
Description

The purpose of this study is to assess the clinical outcomes and radiation of the use of off-the-shelf and custom-made devices (CMDs) for the endovascular repair of juxtarenal, suprarenal, thoracoabdominal and arch aortic aneurysms in patients having appropriate anatomy. The study consists of three cohorts. The first 2 cohorts are the continuation of the current IDE study. The first cohort is aimed to assess the use of custom-made devices (CMDs) for the endovascular repair of juxtarenal, suprarenal and type IV thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms in standard and high-risk patients having appropriate anatomy (Fenestrated-CMD cohort). The second cohort (Type I-III thoracoabdominal cohort) includes standard and high-risk patients with type I- III thoracoabdominal aneurysms that require the use of branched/fenestrated CMDs, or, in selected cases, the Zenith Thoracoabdominal Branch (Zenith® t-Branch™) device. Finally, the third cohort (the Arch cohort) will include 25 high-risk patients with aortic arch aneurysms treated by patient-specific stent-grafts with one to three inner branches or a scallop

The purpose of this study is to assess 3 different scoring systems to evaluate the adhesive quality of placebo (an inactive substance that is compared with a drug to test whether the drug has a real effect in a clinical trial\]) JNJ-35685-AAA-G-023-G transdermal (through the skin) systems during a single system 72-hour application, replicated 3 times, of 2 patch sizes (5.5 centimeter\^2 \[cm\^2\] and 44 cm\^2).

Early Feasibility Study of Adaptive Advisory/Automated (AAA) Control of Type 1 Diabetes
Description

The purpose of this study is to use an Advisory/Automated Adaptive (AAA) or Closed-Loop Control (CLC) system for insulin delivery in adults with Type 1 Diabetes (T1DM) in an outpatient setting to evaluate the system's ability to significantly improve blood glucose levels. A component of this study evaluated AAA or CLC Control overnight only in 5 consecutive overnights in a cross-over trial with sensor-augmented pump therapy occurring prior to or following CLC overnight. Another component of this study planned evaluating if the AAA Control system run on the Diabetes Assistant (DiAs) system can prevent hypoglycemia during and following exercise more efficiently during a 40 hour trial this part of the trial was not conducted due to a preference for overnight only configuration in pilot testing. This protocol represents a culmination of prior clinical trials in development of this AAA system and benefits from the synthesis of those components.

Reducing Disabilities in Alzheimer's Disease (RDAD) Translation in Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs)
Description

The University of Washington's Northwest Research Group on Aging is partnering with Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) in Washington and Oregon to complete this translational investigation of RDAD (Reducing Disabilities in Alzheimer's Disease). RDAD is an evidence-based program with demonstrated efficacy in helping older adults with dementia maintain physical function and remain physically and mentally healthy. This study asks two questions: 1) Can AAA partners successfully translate and implement RDAD, and 2) Is AAA implementation of RDAD effective in producing desired outcomes among agencies, providers, and older adults with dementia and their family members. This study is being conducted in Washington and Oregon states.
