Mobile Application Utilization for Measurement of Scapular Position
Description

The purpose of this study is to determine the ability of a mobile clinical application to reliably and accurately track scapular motion in people with asymptomatic and symptomatic shoulders. The ability to accurately and reliably measure shoulder position clinically is an important first step in choosing the best treatment techniques to treat shoulder movement dysfunction. Therefore, the primary objectives of the study are: 1. To determine the inter- and intra-rater reliability of shoulder joint position measurements in symptomatic and asymptomatic subjects, by using a mobile application, with and without use of a handle for a smartphone 2. To determine the validity of the shoulder joint position measurements measurements as described above.

Aerodynamic Measurements in the Pediatric Population
Description

The goal of this clinical trial is to create a vocal health database of people aged 4-17 with no diagnosed voice pathology. The main question it aims to answer is: * what is the best way to assess pediatric voices; and, * what are the differences between healthy and dysphonic pediatric voices? Participants will complete one 60 minute session involving one of three types of aerodynamic interruption.

qDSA Blood Flow Measurement in Patients Undergoing TAE of the Liver
Description

The purpose of this research is to evaluate a new technique, quantitative digital subtraction angiography (qDSA), to measure blood flow during liver embolization procedures. Liver transarterial embolization is a way of treating liver tumors by blocking blood flow to it. The qDSA technique could help doctors ensure the blood flow to the tumor is decreased by the right amount by calculating blood flow before, during, and after the procedure. Up to 20 participants will be enrolled for 1 study visit and data collection for up to 6 months.

Measurement Based Care in Opioid Treatment Programs
Description

The goal of this HEAL Initiative study is to enhance the measurement, quality, and equity of care delivered in 20 community opioid treatment programs (OTPs) by creating and using measurement-based care (MBC) tools and systems. Patients will use MBC tools to track their symptoms and discuss with their providers. This data will be collected over the course of the study to evaluate the effectiveness of MBC in improving patient care and treatment outcomes.

Description

A growing number of people are being diagnosed with fatty liver disease, also known as metabolic-dysfunction associated liver disease (MASLD). Fatty liver disease can unknowingly progress to serious liver disease and even permanent scarring (cirrhosis).The purpose of this research is to learn the best way to detect serious liver disease as early as possible in patients with fatty liver disease by measuring the stiffness of the spleen. Secondarily, the study hopes to understand how the stiffness of the spleen relates to the severity of liver disease.

Description

ABSTRACT: Acute dental pain from untreated decay often drives patients to emergency rooms (ERs), where the lack of definitive dental treatment results in nearly 75% of these patients receiving analgesics, predominantly opioids. Addressing the need for non-opioid pain alternatives is crucial. Emerging evidence suggests that dental pain from pulpal and periodontal conditions (affecting the tooth's nerve and surrounding tissues) involves neuropathic mechanisms, such as mechanical allodynia (MA) and central sensitization (CS). These mechanisms can amplify pain perception, causing typically non-painful actions, like chewing, to become painful and resulting in hypersensitivity extending beyond the affected tooth. Reliably identifying these mechanisms with quantitative measures can support improved pain assessment and targeted non-opioid treatment. This minimally invasive prospective cohort study will use the FDA-approved Innobyte® device, a precise bite-force measurement tool, to evaluate periodontal health and to quantify mechanical pain thresholds in patients requiring endodontic treatment (root canal therapy).

Optimal Timing of Routine Cervical Length Measurements During Anatomy Survey
Description

The goal of this clinical trial is to determine the optimal timing for measuring cervical length (CL) during fetal anatomy surveys in pregnant individuals. This study focuses on improving the accuracy of cervical length assessments, which are critical for identifying individuals at risk for preterm birth. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does measuring cervical length at the beginning of the anatomy survey result in a higher proportion of scans meeting the nine CLEAR (Cervical Length Education and Review) criteria compared to measuring at the end of the survey? * Does the use of sepia-filtered ultrasound images improve the proportion of scans meeting the nine CLEAR criteria compared to conventional grayscale images? Researchers will compare two groups of participants randomized to have cervical length measured either at the beginning or at the end of the anatomy survey. Additionally, all participants will undergo cervical length measurements using both grayscale and sepia-filtered ultrasound imaging. Participants will: * Receive a patient information sheet through MyChart explaining the study and standard cervical length screening during anatomy surveys. * Provide verbal consent for a transvaginal ultrasound and study participation. * Be randomized to have their cervical length measured at either the start or end of the fetal survey. * Undergo cervical length measurement using both grayscale and sepia-filtered ultrasound imaging modalities. * This study involves no additional risks beyond those of routine clinical care and aims to enhance clinical practice by identifying optimal methods for cervical length assessment during pregnancy.

Validation of Nanosensor Oxygen Measurement
Description

Past mitochondrial disease treatment studies have been unsuccessful in determining treatment efficacy, and a major factor has been the lack of validated biomarkers in mitochondrial myopathy (MM). There is currently a growing number of potential new treatments to be tested through MM clinical intervention trials, which has created a pressing need for quantitative biomarkers that reliably reflect MM disease severity, progression, and therapeutic response. The purpose of the study is to measure the efficacy of an electrochemical oxygen nanosensor to measure in vivo mitochondrial function in human muscle tissue, and its ability to discriminate MM patients from healthy volunteers. The data and results from this nanosensor study may contribute to current and future research, including improved diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for patients with mitochondrial disease.

ALPCO Calprotectin CLIA Assay - Measurement of Calprotectin Levels in Human Stool
Description

The ALPCO Calprotectin CLIA is an in vitro diagnostic test intended to quantitatively measure concentrations of fecal calprotectin in human stool samples. Calprotectin is a protein biomarker of mucosal inflammation. Measurement of calprotectin can aid in the diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), specifically Crohn's Disease (CD) and Ulcerative Colitis (UC), as well as aid in the differentiation of IBD from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) when used in conjunction with other diagnostic testing and the total clinical picture. The goal of the study is to generate data to support positive and negative predictive value of the ALPCO Calprotectin assay in patients with signs and symptoms of IBS or IBD.

Project REMOTE (REimagining Measurements and Operations of Translational Endpoints)
Description

This trial is designed to assess immunological biomarkers measured from blood samples that can be used to reliably predict how well vaccines work against symptomatic COVID-19 as well as to evaluate the feasibility of remote, self-collected specimens when conducting a correlates analysis. For a lot of research studies, people need to go to the study doctor's office regularly. For this study, we want to see if it is okay that people do the study doctor visits virtually, fill out questionnaires electronically, and collect their own samples remotely. Participants will enroll in the study after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine in their community, and saliva and blood specimens will be collected at pre-defined timepoints over a 12-month period. Additionally, participants will report weekly whether they experience symptoms of COVID-19, and if so, will be prompted to collect a nasal swab for testing. Most participants will complete all activities remotely and via electronic communications, but a small number will complete activities in person at the doctor's office to provide a comparison group. Samples from the study will be analyzed to determine whether the biomarkers can be measured, and data from the study will be used to evaluate the feasibility of doing the specimen and data collection without the participant going to the doctor's office in person.

Assessment of CSF Shunt Flow in an Outpatient Setting with a Thermal Measurement Device

This study collects exploratory data using a non-invasive device for assessing CSF shunt flow using thermal anisotropy measurements. Patients with an existing implanted ventricular CSF shunt will be enrolled into either a prospective (study device) or retrospective (no study device) cohort to gather data on health resource utilization, quality-of-life, and study device measurements.

Measurement-Based Care (MBC) Implementation, Effectiveness, and Mechanisms of Change
Description

Although measurement-based care (MBC) is an evidence-based practice with known benefits, it is not always systematically implemented with fidelity. Questions remain regarding MBC's unique added value compared to usual care. Thus, the goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the implementation outcome, effectiveness, and mechanisms of change of measurement-based care in adult behavioral health. This study implemented MBC in adult ambulatory behavioral health and will test outcomes using a pragmatic randomized control trial within the RE-AIM (Reach, Efficacy, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance) framework. Researchers will compare three groups: 1) the Measurement-based care group, 2) the treatment-as-usual group, and 3) the waitlist control group. Participants will participate in weekly individual psychotherapy sessions for 12 sessions in total.

The Measurement of Chemicals in Exhaled Breath Can Identify If a Person is Infected with COVID-19
Description

The type and number of chemicals in exhaled breath are different in people with infection as compared to those without infection. In this study, the breath of people with and without COVID infection will be measured. Changes in the amount and type of chemicals in breath will be used to determine if an individual does or does not have COVID infection. If the measurements of breath are a reliable measure of COVID infection, this device may be used to rapidly screen people who are attending large public events (for example, music concert or baseball game) to minimize the spread of COVID at the event.
