This study is being conducted to describe the impact of a meeting between patients that were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and a provider that cared for the patients during the period of critical illness. The study team is aiming to describe the effect this meeting has on the physician that previously cared for the patient. The study team hypothesizes that facilitating involvement in post-ICU clinic and creating longitudinal relationships between providers of critical care and survivors of critical illness will have positive effects on trainees, both in professional fulfillment and burnout scores and in perceptions of critical care.

Researchers are trying to determine if individualized professional coaching improves physicians' sense of well-being and job satisfaction.
This exploratory pilot study is designed as interventional study to examine the efficacy of a wellness initiative that involves use of a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) to assist in the development of diverse coping strategies such as management of stressors, self-care, time management, and any other goals, problems or concerns that APPs would like assistance with during the intervention period.
This research study is designed to answer the question: How does professional coaching impact early career academic emergency medicine physician goal attainment, leadership strengths, well-being, and burnout?
Homelessness is a complex social issue and requires a dedicated workforce of helping professionals, including nurses and social workers. Secondary traumatic stress is common in this workforce and contributes to poor professional quality of life, burnout, and job turnover. These factors undermine the health and well-being of homeless service providers and threaten the stability of this critical workforce. The purpose of this study is to evaluate "Storytelling Through Music," an innovative 6-week, multi-dimensional intervention, to improve well-being among homeless service providers.
The purpose of this study is to look at how mindfulness-informed emotional intelligence training may influence how participants think, feel, and act.
The goal of this observational study is to monitor the floatation experience and continue the program as long as deemed important. The main question it aims to answer is: will inventory wellbeing scores increase according to the number of floatation sessions accrued? Nurses (registered, practitioner, and anesthetist) and physicians, employed at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Trauma Center, Mercy Health, will be welcomed to participate in the floatation experience. Participants will be given an option to complete the Wellbeing Inventory survey prior to each floatation session.
This study aims to determine if online coaching is feasible in advanced practice providers (APP) and can impact burnout. The study will recruit APPs from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), Emory, Colorado University (CU), and their affiliate hospitals through online consent sent via email. Interventions will include online video coaching, written coaching, and self-coaching through self-study material.
Better Together Physician Coaching ("Better Together", or "BT"), a 4-month, web-based positive psychology multimodal coaching program was built to decrease burnout in medical trainees. Here, the investigators seek to understand it's efficacy in University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU SOM) clinicians Aim 1: Implement Better Together in undergraduate medical education settings for medical students Aim 2: Assess outcomes: primary: reduce burnout as measured by the Maslach Burnout Index (goal: 10% relative improvement), and secondary: self-compassion, imposter syndrome, flourishing, loneliness, and moral injury. Aim 3: Advance the field of coaching for clinicians through innovation and dissemination of evidence-based approaches to medical student wellbeing.
The purpose of this research is to examine a wearable device called Apollo that emits gentle vibrations found to benefit mood, energy, and focus. We want to understand how it affects burnout in physicians.

This project seeks to develop and test provider-centered strategies that improve the detection and facilitate the treatment of physiologic and mental health symptoms in emergency medicine physicians. This will be done by investigating the feasibility and acceptability of wearable device and EMA feedback with personalized linkage to an evidence-based mental health platform at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
The goal of this randomized control trial is to learn if professional coaching can help reduce physician burnout among physicians at UCLA. The main aims of the study are: * To reduce burnout among physicians with professional coaching * Improve work satisfaction and engagement, sense of self-efficacy and social support with professional coaching * Determine the efficacy of one-on-one professional coaching and small group professional coaching combined with behavioral interventions/activities in reducing physician burnout and comparing these groups to one another and to a delayed-entry (control) group Participants will be randomly assigned into one of three groups: * Intervention Group 1: One-on-one coaching (N=30). Six one-on-one coaching sessions via Zoom with one of two private professional coaches every other week for 3-4 months. * Intervention Group 2: Coach-facilitated group sessions and coach-guided activities/behavioral interventions (N=30). Six small-group coaching sessions via Zoom with one of two private professional coaches and three physician participants in each group, every other week for 3-4 months. * Delayed-Entry Group 3 (N=30): No intervention during duration of study period. Note: once participation in the pilot study has been completed for Groups 1 and 2, physicians participating in Group 3 will be offered to participate in six one-on-one sessions with a private professional coach over a 3-4 month period. Participants will complete several surveys that assess for burnout, work engagement and satisfaction, sense of social support and isolation, and areas of worklife) before the start, upon completion of the intervention and again at 6 months upon completion of the sessions for the delayed-entry group. Each group also received coach-guided activities/behavioral interventions during coaching sessions. These activities will be sent by coaches to participates throughout the 3 month period and include, but are not limited to: Wheel of Life, visioning exercise, one page miracle: core values, purpose, and goals, buckets and mental models.

Here, the investigators seek to understand it's efficacy in male-identifying trainees at the University of Colorado * Aim 1: Implement Better Together in for male-identifying trainees in Graduate Medical Education at the University of Colorado. * Aim 2: Assess outcomes: primary: reduce burnout as measured by the Maslach Burnout Index (goal: 10% relative improvement), and secondary: self-compassion, imposter syndrome, flourishing and moral injury. * Aim 3: Advance the field of coaching in GME through innovation and dissemination of evidence-based approaches to GME trainee wellbeing.
This is a quasi-experimental study that will examine whether mindfulness based stress reduction, adapted to an online learning management system, will reduce factors related to burnout in private practice licensed clinical social workers in New York State.
The purpose of this pilot study is to assess the impact of a hospital-based integrative self-care program (e.g., a. Reiki and b. Caring Science and Mindful Practice \[CSMP\] course) for interprofessional staff including nurses, physicians and/or medical residents, physical therapists, as well as other healthcare providers on their wellbeing.
The purpose of this study is to confirm and quantify the ability of an 8-week intervention with a supplement containing magnesium citrate and vitamin B6 to reduce anxiety, stress, and burnout among nurses working full time in hospitals and urgent care centers during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Burnout refers to feelings of exhaustion, negativism, and reduced personal efficacy resulting from chronic workplace stress. In healthcare, burnout leads to increased medical errors, poorer patient care and negatively affects professional development and retention. Burnout is a growing problem that begins early in medical training. Women and those underrepresented in medicine (URM) experience a disproportionate amount of burnout likely due to the cognitive load required to manage microaggressions, stereotypes, and harmful socially adopted narratives around efficacy. Professional coaching is a metacognition tool with a sustainable positive effect on physician well-being but typically relies on expensive consultants or time-consuming faculty development, often making it infeasible for medical training programs to offer. To overcome this barrier, the investigators created Better Together Physician Coaching (BT) a 6-month coaching program for women residents at the University of Colorado (CU). BT includes regular online group-coaching, written coaching, and weekly self-study modules delivered by physician life coaches (Co-PIs). A pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) of 101 BT participants demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in burnout, self-compassion, and imposter syndrome in the intervention group. BT will be scaled up to a national level and evaluated with an RCT mirroring our pilot in 10+ graduate medical education (GME) programs for 1000+ participants coordinated and evaluated by our CU team. To accomplish this goal, the investigators set the following major objectives for this project: * Prepare to expand the BT program by teaming with a cohort of diverse physician coaches. * Implement BT in 10+ GME programs to serve 1000+ trainee participants with deliberate inclusion of institutions with diverse GME trainee populations serving geographically rural and/or medically underserved areas. * Assess our outcomes: primary: reduce burnout as measured by the Maslach Burnout Index (goal: 10% relative improvement), and secondary: self-compassion, imposter syndrome and moral injury. Outcome generalizability and program feasibility at a national level will also be analyzed, as will participant experience to gain a richer understanding of how BT may help trainees, in particular those URM. * Advance the field of coaching in GME through innovation and dissemination of evidence-based approaches to GME trainee wellbeing.
This study is a randomized controlled trial that will look at whether virtual, team-based exercise improves burnout, sense of community, and mentorship connections among medical students, residents, fellows, and physicians.
The purpose of this research is to develop a mobile app-based intervention to reduce burnout and improve well-being using human-centered design principles and stakeholder feedback.

Surgery has a long standing tradition long hours of hard work often at the expense of adequate sleep. Decreased sleep and recovery has physiologic consequences which can be measured using biometric data. The goal of this study is to quantify surgeon performance and biometric data to understand how modifiable behaviors including mindfulness training and diet can maximize recovery and performance. The goal of this study is to quantify the impact if modifiable daily behaviors including sleep, nutrition, in order to understand the factors that contribute to high level performance, burnout, and physician wellbeing in surgical trainees and attendings.

The United States is battling dual pandemics: healthcare provider (HCP) exhaustion and COVID-19. The COVID-19 pandemic death toll has surpassed 595,000 and continues to climb as the worldwide outbreak continues. Moreover, we have yet to understand the health impacts of "long-COVID". As evidenced by the national burnout epidemic in HCPs, persistent workplace stress not only impacts personal provider wellbeing, but also influences effective practice and patient outcomes. To address this need, we propose a 4-year, multi-site, four-arm parallel-group randomized clinical trial (RCT) comparing 2 non-pharmacological interventions: Transcendental Meditation (TM) and Experience Resolution Methodology (ERM) to Treatment as Usual (TAU). Participation in this study lasts up to 24 months for enrolled participants and is considered minimal risks.
The goal of the Professional Development Coaching Program is to allow trainees to understand their development over time, find meaning and purpose in their work, and identify their strengths and how to use these to overcome challenges and stressors. Additionally, the program connects trainees with a faculty member who will work with them, grow to know them in-depth over time, and provide meaningful guidance throughout the relationship. There is an additional benefit to the coaches themselves, who are able to connect with other faculty coaches in a rewarding way, that provides faculty development in leadership development and positive psychology, and space to interact with a group of like-minded physicians.
In this study, the investigators aim to examine the effects of art therapy in reducing burnout in healthcare providers. Using the Maslach Burnout Inventory Human Services Survey for Medical Personnel, the investigators will measure burnout in Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) providers before and after the administration of a 4-week art therapy group.
This single blind, randomized, controlled trial (RCT) evaluates, a nonpharmacological intervention, TM (Transcendental Meditation) for improving burnout (, as measured by self-reporting (survey), physiologic, and neuro-functional imaging studies in health care providers (HCPs) when practiced over 3 months' time. The investigators define HCPs as any physician, physician trainee, nurse, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or respiratory therapist. HCPs will be screened by a single-item stress scale and Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (CSSRS) to understand their stress level and exclusion criteria respectively. The Global Severity Index of the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI)-18 Global Severity score will be used as the primary outcome for pre- and post-TM training (baseline, 1 vs. 3 months). In addition, the investigators will evaluate physiological markers of stress and cardiovascular resiliency such as 1) changes (pre/post-treatment) in heart rate variability (HRV) through wearables, 2) Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) - changes in sweat gland activity that result from changes in an emotional state. fMRI will be performed by the Duke Brain Imaging and Analysis Center (BIAC) on a subset of participants to evaluate changes A specifically developed mobile app will aid data collection as well as reminders for providers to aid compliance for meditation
This study is designed to tackle the issue of physician burnout via a wide-lens approach, integrating both mindfulness-based training and nutritional counseling in the management of professional burnout. The investigators will evaluate the effects of mindfulness training and nutritional counseling interventions through assessment of changes in physiological and biochemical parameters known to be adversely affected in burnout, in addition to the standardized Professional Fulfillment inventory scores at 3-6 months post-intervention.
A randomized trial of an interprofessional intervention to reduce burnout and enhance professional engagement in physicians, certified nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners.
The investigators hypothesize that wellbeing scores following the study of Spiritual Flow, when compared to taking the survey before receiving Spiritual Flow, will increase. Pre- and post-Spiritual Flow assessments will include wellbeing, nonstress, and positive affect scores. The investigators also hypothesize that several subjects will have found that Spiritual Flow increased their level of inspiration and peacefulness.
