Investigating Oral Agents for Urine Staining to Facilitate Intraoperative Observation of Ureteral Jets
Description

Recently, Indigo Carmine and Methylene Blue have been the standard agents to visualize ureteral jets during intraoperative cystoscopy. However, due to a national shortage of Indigo Carmine and Methylene Blue, there is a need to discover alternative IV and oral agents that are readily available and well tolerated when used for visualizing ureteral jets at the time of intraoperative cystoscopy. The aim of this study is to look at oral agents that have been studied such as pyridium (Phenazopyridine Hydrochloride) and riboflavin and compare them in a three-arm double-blinded randomized controlled pilot study using riboflavin, pyridium, and a placebo. The aim of the study is to provide evidence that both pyridium and riboflavin are effective and safe for staining urine to facilitate visualization of jets in evaluating ureteral patency at the time of intraoperative cystoscopy.

The Study of Folate Receptor-Mediated Staining Solution (FRD™) In Cervical Lesion Detection
Description

The FRDTM is easy to perform and does not require sophisticated laboratory technology and/or experienced pathologists for test result interpretation. Compared to the Pap smear and HPV test, the FRDTM enables clinicians to obtain test results immediately (within 60 seconds) after the screening. This empowers clinicians in making timely decisions on appropriate patient management, and facilitating patient compliance with follow-up procedures. In addition, the FRDTM requires minimal training and technical support. Due to its advantage of rapid visualization of abnormal cervical lesions (CIN2+) in a cost-effective way, health care professionals can make cervical cancer detection accessible to women worldwide, especially in regions with limited medical resources. This is a cross-sectional study to evaluate the clinical performance of Folate Receptor-Mediated Epithelium Staining (FRDTM) in detecting cervical neoplastic lesions (CIN2+).

This study will evaluate the response rate of MLN8237 in patients with histologically confirmed or clinically suspected metastatic neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC). MLN8237 is an orally administered Aurora kinase A inhibitor that has demonstrated broad antitumor activity in vitro and in vivo. In preclinical models, aurora kinase inhibition resulted in dramatic and preferential anti-tumor activity in NEPC with suppression of neuroendocrine marker expression.

A Clinical Trial to Test the Effect of a Marketed Mouth Rinse on Stain Removal
Description

The whitening action of an investigative hydrogen peroxide/sodium fluoride containing mouth rinse will be evaluated through stain removal using mean Lobene Stain Index over 14 days compared to a currently marketed hydrogen peroxide containing whitening mouth rinse (Crest® 3D White Multi-Care Whitening Rinse, Glamorous White, Fresh Mint). A currently marketed toothpaste (Colgate® Cavity Protection) will be included as the negative control in order to compare to brushing alone. 225 healthy volunteers will be enrolled in this two week study. Volunteers who qualify to be in this study will have an equal chance of being assigned to one of the three treatment groups. Volunteers will have a total of 5 clinic visits including 1) screening, 2) baseline 3) Day 4 (after 3 days of use), Day 8 (after 7 days of use) and Day 15 (after 14 days of use). Volunteers will maintain a diary at home to record each treatment use. Examinations for oral hard/soft tissue assessment and extrinsic tooth stain after the subject brushes with water and floss will be completed at Baseline and repeated at Clinic Visits 3, 4, and 5, which are on Days 4, 8 and 15 post baseline (i.e., after 3, 7, and 14 days of product use).

Comparison of Two Multi-Purpose Solution and Lens Material Combinations on Corneal Barrier Function
Description

The purpose of this study is to measure the relative "barrier" function of the top layer of the cornea (called the epithelium), or the degree to which the cornea can prevent the penetration of the colored dye sodium fluorescein into the eye. This is a clinical investigation of the effect on corneal barrier function following wear of two contact lens materials and two contact lens care systems, approved for marketing in the US by the Food and Drug Administration. These contact lenses will be worn for two hours, following soak in one of two marketed contact lens disinfecting solutions. Approximately 25 young, adapted contact lens wearers will participate.

Imaging Studies of Kidney Cancer Using 18F-VM4-037
Description

Background: - The drug 18F-VM4-037 is being tested for use in cancer imaging studies. It may help tumor tissue show up more clearly during scans. Researchers want to see how well it works for scans for people who have kidney cancer. Objectives: - To test the safety and effectiveness of 18F-VM4-037 during imaging studies of kidney cancer. Eligibility: - Adults at least 18 years of age with kidney cancer that will be treated with surgery. Design: * Participants will be screened with a physical exam and medical history. Blood and urine samples will be collected. * Participants will have two positron emission tomography (PET) scans of their kidneys. They will have the scans before and after receiving an injection of 18F-VM4-037. The scans will take about 2 hours to complete. * About 3 weeks after the PET scans, participants will provide tumor tissue samples from their kidneys. * This is a scanning study only. Treatment will not be provided as part of this study.
