16 Clinical Trials for Various Conditions
A child is eligible to participate in this study because she is having surgery on her ovary. The investigators may obtain a sample of any discarded tissue from the surgery for an ovarian tissue library. This study is being conducted to understand how common ovarian conditions effect the number and quality of ovarian follicles and the reproductive potential of the ovary.
The purpose of the study is to isolate and characterize stem cells of patients with Polycythemia Vera (PV) and Essential Thrombocythemia (ET) to find out why these cells are not working the way they should be and why they seem to be sensitive to regulatory factors in the blood, such as clotting.
Over the past decade, techniques have been refined which permit an enormous amount of information relevant to disease mechanisms to be gained from the examination of heart tissue. The Cardiovascular Institute has extensive experience with these techniques, and has utilized them to examine other heart disease substrates. In this study, the investigators propose to obtain heart tissue at the time of cardiac surgery which would otherwise be discarded. Their plan is to examine this tissue and correlate their findings with clinical data. Their hope is that the proposed study will provide insight into atrial physiology, including the molecular mechanisms underlying atrial disease and the potential development of atrial fibrillation (AF).
To create an esophageal cancer biospecimen repository that will collect, annotate, store and distribute human esophageal cancer biospecimens in a manner that embraces the highest ethical standards of human subject's research, that conforms to the best practices of biorepository science and that furthers basic, translational and clinical research in the understanding diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
The purpose of this study is to obtain bone marrow and peripheral blood samples, along with clinical data from patients with Multiple Myeloma (MM), Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia (WM), Smoldering MM, and other lymphoplasmacytic lymphomas (LPL) including but not limited to MGUS and IgG or IgA LPL. These samples will become part of a tissue bank and will be used in ongoing studies to find out more about the causes and biology of MM, WM and LPL; to identify what factors result in normal cells becoming cancer; to determine how to improve treatment options; to study how the immune system identifies abnormal cells; and to evaluate the immune function in these diseases. The investigators will also study the tumor cells at the level of the participant's genes to develop treatment strategies as well as to better understand how biologic differences affect patient outcomes.

This will be a prospective "registry" for atrial tissue. The investigators propose an enrollment of 300 subjects, to take place at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Presbyterian over a 5 year period.
This project is a program-wide genetic tissue databank for the Department of Veterans Affairs Cooperative Studies Program (CSP). The genetic tissue bank has four components: a central repository for DNA and other genetic tissue specimens; a Scientific Advisory Committee of individuals with expertise in the genetics and epidemiology of diseases with special importance to the VA (including cardiovascular, neurologic, respiratory, psychological and other disorders); an Ethics Oversight Committee of individuals with expertise in bioethics and the law, as they apply to the collection and use of genetic tissue, and a Coordinating Center that administers the tissue bank, coordinates the scientific and ethics oversight committees, maintains central access to clinical study data linked to the tissue bank, and provides statistical analysis.
Research scientists of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine (COM) and Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences (BSBS) conduct laboratory studies in biomedical and translational medical research for the purpose of understanding human disease and developing innovative methods for diagnosing, measuring, or treating disease or disease symptoms. The key research divisions are cancer, cardiovascular, immunity and pathogenesis, neuroscience, and molecular microbiology.
The aims of this protocol are: to collect and store diseased and normal tissue and body fluid samples from new and returning patients at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (SJCRH), affiliated sites and collaborating institutions; to collect and store samples from relatives of SJCRH patients; to collect and store retrospective and prospective pertinent corresponding clinical and laboratory data on disease characterization, treatment, and outcome; and to serve as a source of human biological samples and corresponding laboratory and clinical data.
This study is collecting tissue specimens (blood, urine and saliva) from up to 1000 patients, with and without cognitive disorders, to store in the Bio Bank for future research. The specimens could be used in future research projects that could help improve the accuracy of diagnosis of a disease, predict who might develop a disease, help monitor the disease, or improve the understanding of the disease. Patients are only being recruited from Beaumont Hospitals Geriatric Clinic.
This is a long-term follow-up banking protocol that collects medical information and tissue (blood, liver and lung) samples for future research; use of data and samples for research purposes is overseen by the Tissue Bank Advisory Committee; the purpose of the Bank is to further research on alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.
The goal of this clinical research study is to create a registry (research database) of clinical data about patients who receive radiation therapy, with or without hormone therapy, to treat prostate cancer that has come back after surgical removal of the prostate. This treatment is standard and the actual treatment is not part of this protocol. Researchers want to collect data and use this registry to learn about the long-term status of prostate cancer after these treatments. This is an investigational study. Up to 500 patients will take part in this study. All will be enrolled at MD Anderson, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, and/or MD Anderson Cancer Center Albuquerque. This is a tissue, urine, and blood banking protocol for cutaneous t-cell lymphoma (CTCL), eczema, and atopic dermatitis patients for current and future research.
The purpose of this study is to collect a portion of blood/tissue specimens that will be generated during the participants office visit or surgery. The investigators are asking whether a small portion of the specimen/s could be set aside and banked for future research purposes. Data originating from participants will be gathered and analyzed in research studies that will help understanding various medical conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), congenital uterine malformations, endocrine malfunctions, endometriosis, and infertility.
To collect and preserve glioblastoma tissue during standard of care tumor resection surgery and blood for future molecular and genetic testing. Tissue for research will be collected from three different regions within the same tumor to study how these regions differ in their structure, DNA, and RNA and also to compare the data obtained from this testing to imaging data found in the medical record. The goal of this study is to help us better understand what the glioblastoma tumor tissue looks like and how it functions. This understanding can lead to new therapies for the treatment of glioblastoma in the future.
Background: Researchers want to learn more about head and neck disorders. Understanding these disorders could help them find better treatments. To do this, they are collecting tissue samples for research. Objective: To create a repository of tissue samples and data to better study conditions of the head and neck. Eligibility: People who had or will have tissue samples taken because of a head or neck disorder. They must be ages 3 and older and not pregnant to join Part 2. Design: Participants will be screened with a questionnaire, medical history, and physical exam. Part 1. Participants will give permission for any of their tissue samples leftover from private care or other research protocols to be used. If participants tissue did not contain normal tissue or if they have a condition that suggests a genetic issue, they will be invited to join Part 2. Part 2: Participants will have additional samples collected. These could be: * Blood: Blood is drawn through a needle in the arm. * Cheek swab or brushing: A cotton swab or small brush is rubbed inside the cheek. * Saliva: They rinse their mouth with water and spit into a tube or cup. * Skin biopsy: They are injected with a numbing drug. A biopsy tool removes a small piece of skin. * Mucosal biopsy: They are injected in the mouth with a numbing medication. A small piece of tissue from the inside of the cheek is removed. Participants samples will be used for future research, including genetic testing.
