This type of clinical trial tests new treatments, medications, or therapies, including drugs, medical devices, surgical procedures, or behavioral interventions. Treatment trials can further be categorized into randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and non-randomized trials.
Despite the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) promoting enrollment practices for clinical trials to better reflect the population most likely to use a drug if approved, challenges to participation remain and certain groups continue to be underrepresented.
